Study conducted in Tamil Nadu, India.
The present book examined the impact of the Interface Forestry Programme on the development of Ayyalur degraded forest and the people settled in the vicnity of the forest-specifically the changes in vegetation cover at micro level and project level, the resultant changes of soil and moisture conservation measures on agriculture, the direct benefits accrued to the people and the level of people's participation in various stages of the project. A participatory forest management model has been suggested for better management of forest involving Village Forest Committe, Forest Department, Non-Governmental Organisation, District Rural Development Agency and Lead Bank.
